2022 saw a whole host of events for Transform’s 50th anniversary celebrations
In 1972, Surrey Community Development Trust (Transform’s original name) was founded to provide accommodation for offenders, enabling them build a life away from crime.
An energetic probation officer, Bruce Pearce, became the charity’s first director and his team set up hostels for ex-offenders and homeless people in Farnham, Reigate, Epsom, Milford, Guildford and Woking.
Five decades on and Transform has now supported more than 30,000 people across Surrey and surrounding areas. Since January, we have been looking back at individual success stories but also reflecting that sadly, our services are needed as much today as in the early days of the 1970s.
We will continue to forge ahead working with our partners in a bid to eliminate homelessness and give individuals the support they need to make the most of their life chances.
