Paul joined Wates Limited in 1962 after two years as a Lieutenant in the 14th/20th King’s Hussars. In 1969 he became a Director of the Main Board of Wates Group, then in 1984 Managing Director of Wates City of London Properties, and Chairman in 1994 until 2001. Paul was then a Director of Wates Group from 2001 until his retirement in 2008.

Paul is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Charted Surveyors, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and became an Honorary Fellow of the City and Guilds of London Institute following a term as Chairman of the Institute. Paul has been involved with Transform for over 15 years.
